2. Able to accomplish a purpose; functioning effectively;

Now consider the definition for Ineffective:

1. Not producing an intended effect;

2. Lacking in power or forcefulness;

3. Lacking the ability or skill to perform effectively; inadequate.

You can spend lots of dollars on marketing, but if you are not marketing 'effectively', the result could be a lot of wasted money!
